Opportunity Overview:

As VP of Public Sector Business Development, you will create the vision, strategy and execution of business opportunities in the federal, state, and local government sectors. You will advise the R-Zero Executive Team on internal strategy to align with industry opportunity, and leverage strategic relationships with thought and policy leaders to maximize R-Zero’s life-saving impact and business upside.

What You’ll Do:

  • Set a clear vision and specific approach for business development in the public sector, including opportunities for market expansion through state and federal grants and stimulus options
  • As part of the BD team align government customer and partnership opportunities to R-Zero’s business strategy
  • Work with our Legal Team (incl VP Government Affairs) to align lobbying efforts with public sector business development opportunities
  • In collaboration with Sales, design national strategic and tactical plans for sales into the public sector that maximize the utilization of company resources
  • Advance R-Zero’s product offerings with federal, state and local decision makers
  • Manage all grant opportunities and recommendations
  • Provide operating knowledge of the U.S. legislative and public health system and the operations of public sector partners


What You Need:

  • 10+ years working with and/or in Federal, State and Local government institutions, e.g. law, public policy, government affairs, lobbying, or negotiating federal and state government projects
  • 5+ years in high growth technology product environments, ideally startups
  • 3+ years experience in public health focused organizations – agency, advocacy, or policy focused role in government
  • Demonstrated track record of negotiating and managing large commercial deal or partnerships in the public sector
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills, executive presence, ability to boil down complex situations into simple and clear messages and action plans
  • Creative self-starter, inspired by new challenges with a bias for action, comes up with solutions and can navigate hurdles with minimal executive guidance
  • Superior working knowledge of state and federal public policy making processes (both legislative and regulatory processes)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline (Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Public Health, etc) required
  • Master’s Degree in related field strongly preferred


This position may require up to 50% domestic travel.
