Yahoo’s commerce team is in growth mode – we’re hiring an Updates Editor to oversee the updating process for our evergreen commerce content.

The Updates Editor will be responsible for refreshing Yahoo and Engadget’s library of evergreen content based on seasonality and search trends. Refreshes can involve fact-checking, revising and updating copy and images, updating product recommendations, and in some instances completely overhauling pieces with reporting and editing as needed. The Updates Editor will bring on and manage a team of freelancers, and work with other teams across the company to determine what to update and suggest ways to improve and expand coverage.

The ideal candidate will be versed in SEO best practices and the article updating process, including but not limited to headline optimization and keyword research. They should be experienced with managing a team of freelancers, and be able to bring in top quality updaters to their roster. They should also be comfortable working across editorial teams, creating detailed instructions, and working directly in a content management system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of updaters, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness of updates
  • Refresh existing articles, which may include fact-checking, revising and updating copy and images, updating product recommendations, and in some instances completely overhauling pieces with reporting and editing as needed.
  • Work with the content operations team to improve and streamline processes
  • Support the editorial team when needed, especially during high-traffic shopping events
  • Work with the SEO team to identify trending and evergreen keywords and topics
  • Pitch, research and write new SEO-sourced articles

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of writing or editing experience at a digital publisher
  • Experience with evergreen updates
  • Experience managing a team of freelancers
  • Understanding of SEO best practices
  • Ability to be organized and multitask in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Interest in shopping trends
  • Experience with Airtable or a similar project management system
  • Ecommerce, tech, or lifestyle experience a plus
  • Experience with SEO tools a plus
  • Experience at a major news publication or tech publication a plus

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 – $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about.
