Our Finance team is growing and we are looking for an entrepreneurial and driven Tax Accountant to join our tax team to support dscout’s hyper growth. You should be highly motivated to learn and grow within the organization and show proven ability to thrive successfully in a fast-paced multi-state environment. This is a crucial position helping with the tax reporting function and providing technical tax support. You will be responsible for helping with all aspects of the direct and indirect taxes of the company.

If you get excited about working within a finance team and with our tax consultants/auditors to handle all monthly tax account reconciliations, annual tax filings and compliance, then we want to hear from you!

What you will do at dscout

  • Be responsible for dscout’s overall tax compliance and strategy (domestic and international)
  • Handle various annual tax filings/franchise filings and work with external auditors to file timely returns
  • Prepare all state registrations of employees outside of IL for accurate payroll filings and reporting
  • Prepare all state sales tax account reconciliations and various analysis including reviewing returns in Avalara
  • Manage dscout’s R&D tax credit activity
  • Prepare/review sales/use tax and assess if we have established nexus in additional states and have a tax responsibility
  • Work with international accountants to handle required international filings
  • Handle all tax related audit requests
  • Book any necessary tax accruals or adjustments
  • Develop various tax handling procedures and training documents
  • Implement process improvements with tax functions
  • Assist the rest of the finance team in handling accounting and planning analyses, monthly closes, and related matters as time allows

What you will bring to dscout

  • Accounting degree with 4+ years corporate tax experience, including sales, use tax and withholding tax experience
  • Strong analytical skills and detail orientation
  • Experience with Netsuite preferred
  • Avalara/Avatax experience preferred
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets and Salesforce experience is helpful (internally, we use Apple computers)
