About Us
Taonga is an early-stage tech startup in the privacy and security space. We believe people deserve more control and transparency over who can access their personal information, like their passport, tax documents or will. We’re building a privacy-by-design digital vault that prioritizes the customers ability to store, manage and share their data easily.

Why This Role Is Exciting
We’re looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join the team to build our product and our company. You will get to work on different parts of the technical stack based on your interests, have a direct impact shaping our product, and help define our company culture.

One of our key values at Taonga is mentorship, and we want to build out an Internship that gives you real-world experience where you build and ship code that goes out to real customers in the first week.

In this role, you will:

  • Work on projects across our Engineering stack using React Native, ReactJS, Java, MySQL, and AWS
  • Take ownership of a features development process from ideation, to development and launch
  • Weekly 1:1’s and pair programming sessions with a Senior Engineer on the team
  • Demo your work to the team on a regular basis

Software Engineer intrigue – a strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn new technologies
Strong communicator – we are a remote-first company and rely on clear communication to build a strong company culture and product
Mentorship mindset- we believe in putting ego aside, and creating a strong culture that allows mentorship across all members
Customer obsession – we value customer feedback and strive to understand customer needs as we keep building
Comfort with ambiguity – we are in beta, and expect to evolve our product roadmap and GTM strategies over the year
