Overview

Our engineering team is responsible for building and scaling our products, and the infrastructure for our operations. As a Staff Engineer, you will work in a fast-paced environment and work closely with different stakeholders and chapters across the company to build the best products and data services for our end-users.

As Staff Engineer you will be an end-to-end owner, you will actively participate in all aspects of designing, building and delivering products that will take us to the next level. You will collaborate closely with Front End, Back End, Mobile, Test engineers and Product Management teams. You will dive in wherever there’s a need, you innovate and learn of ways to evolve our engineering practices.

Your impact:

  • Apply knowledge of the technical stack and production environment to solve complex issues and help team members.
  • Identify areas for improvement, make recommendations for change. Take responsibility and drive execution of those changes.
  • Develop priorities for both themselves and others in the Squad and across the Tribe.
  • Write complex procedures of exemplary quality. Responds independently to technical issues, quickly isolates and mitigates them, escalating and communicating appropriately.
  • Recommend solutions based on understanding of both business needs and technology capabilities, drives evaluations and delivers successful implementations.
  • Builds large and complex automation scripts across multiple interdependent systems.
  • Seek opportunities to deepen knowledge of the entire tech stack; mentor others to do the same.
  • Assist junior squad members find ways to design and create work that can be used by others.

Who you are:

  • You have a strong technical background, including 6+ years of experience with system architecture and API design
  • You have been a Staff, Principal, or Distinguished Engineer
  • You have served as the technical lead for a team of engineers and can demonstrate broad technical leadership
  • You have owned the technical roadmap for a business area
  • You listen well and internalize the best ideas from all over the organization while also setting a vision that others are excited to get behind
  • You work well cross-functionally and your co-workers at all levels and across all teams trust you
  • You are often cited as the inspiration for engineers that join your teams. Even senior engineers feel that they’re able to learn from you
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Experience with:
    • Java 8 or above (streams, lambdas, optionals).
    • Low latency and high concurrency system design, for instance e-commerce websites or payment gateway.
    • Experience in trading platforms
    • Spring Boot, Micronaut, or some other microservices framework.
    • Relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
    • NoSQL databases (Redis, Mongo).
    • Some PHP knowledge is desirable but not required.
    • Certain notions of distributed systems: back pressure, observability, fault tolerance, concurrency, redundancy, etc

Additionally, it would be nice if you

  • Passionate about the Product and Business side of the data applications that you are building.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a startup environment.
  • Passionate about Crypto.
