About Manager, Facilities Operations

The Real Estate & Workplace Services organization manages all aspects of the work environment, physical security, EH&S and travel related items to support the dynamic business across global regions at Yahoo.  Team Mission: Our team’s goal is to provide the safest, most amazing workplace for people to do their most amazing work.

The Manager will be responsible to manage and support facility operations for the East Coast region in the United States. The East Coast portfolio includes over 350,000  square feet of leased or owned office and data center space including the New York headquarters office. Operational support includes facilities operations, workplace services,  coordination of real estate portfolio strategy, landlord / property manager interactions and project management.

Key responsibilities:

Direct and manage the activities of multiple outsourced service providers and consultants who provide services related to facility operations and project management

Contribute to real estate and workplace solutions within the framework of the global  business and real estate strategies:

  • Participate in or coordinate in the collection of Business Unit requirements for space
  • Meaningfully contribute in discussions focusing on both short and long term real estate occupancy solutions
  • Present alternatives and drive business decisions that optimize value to cost
  • Focus on delivering the appropriate level of workplace services to provide the best employee experience within the approved budget
  • Understand real estate transaction activities including lease negotiations, coordination with Risk Management, Legal and other internal and external consultants
  • Work with internal Real Estate team, local property manager and landlord to ensure building rules and guidelines and lease terms are fulfilled
  • Partner with Security & EH&S team to ensure a safe and healthy workplace
  • Manage delivery of real estate projects through outsourced project management providers
  • Coordinate with and support Workplace Experience & DEI / Culture functions to support event management, food program and all-hands/off-site activities and gatherings
  • Monitor expenses and purchase order activities related to facility operation items and participate in quarterly and annual budgeting processes
  • Work as a team to drive operational success and scalability, service quality, customer satisfaction and business simplification
  • Work in a team environment across functions and regions
  • Cultivate strong alliances and effective communication channels at all levels of Yahoo in the region, specifically with business unit leaders
  • Deliver the appropriate level of workspace locations, fit-out and services
  • Continuously seek the best value while meeting business requirements

Job Qualifications:

  • 7 years experience in Real Estate and Facilities operations management
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience managing third-party service delivery models and providers of facilities and real estate services
  • A comprehensive understanding of building systems, engineering and property management practices
  • Must have business acumen and financial management skills
  • Experience using workplace tools (Google Workspace) , service related ticketing systems (e.g, ServiceNow) and understanding of building management systems
  • Working knowledge of corporate real estate, facilities management, building operation, lease negotiation, and project management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and project management skills
  • Ability to read and understand typical commercial lease documents and service contracts
  • Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously within budget and timelines and deliver in a fast paced environment

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 – $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives. Yahoo has a high degree of flexibility around employee location and hybrid working. In fact, our flexible-hybrid approach to work is one of the things our employees rave about.
