Bigleaf Networks is working to build a dedicated QA team as we evolve and enter a period of growth. This position marks the first member of this team. We are looking for engineers who are interested in helping us build this team from scratch. While leadership is a key component, the ideal person for this role will also be extremely passionate about QA.

What You’ll Do: 

As a Senior Test Automation Developer at Bigleaf Networks, you will put the customer first by developing test automation to increase our QoS and customer satisfaction. Test automation is a critical component of software development at Bigleaf Network, you will work with others in engineering to understand and solve customer quality issues and develop software to help QA efforts scale across the company.

You will approach your role as a tester and developer with a strong ability to automate through code. You will also focus on establishing critical QA processes, building a team, and ensuring quality is top-of-mind for all engineering efforts. We are looking for someone who can think creatively to consistently surface issues (before they reach customers) and build automation to validate and debug complicated network behaviors.

This position is 100% remote. Proximity to the Tigard, OR office is preferred in order to be close to the QA test lab. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy and own automation to quantify product performance, e.g., network load and throughput testing, performance comparisons of new hardware platforms, etc.
  • Act as a champion and mentor for solid quality process and automation
  • Encourage automation and minimize manual test and QA work to focus on efforts that bring long-term value to the system
  • Create and maintain automated testing systems and processes that others on the Engineering Team can contribute to
  • Work tirelessly to find issues in our systems (before they impact customers) and help others in Engineering understand impact and reproduction
  • Act as a constant advocate for our customers
  • Integrate regression tools into our release process to build confidence in every release and shorten the time to delivery

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving software/systems engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building validation tools, automating test & QA processes, etc.
  • Experience using test frameworks and harnesses (e.g., Robot, Selenium, JMeter, RSpec, etc.) to build larger, customized validation suites
  • Familiarity with common build & DevOps workflows, CI/CD and other types of configuration management and deployment processes in order to integrate and quantify automated regression testing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a multi-team, collaborative environment
  • Experience using Spirent or Ixia network test hardware is a major plus
  • Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP, etc.)  and networking technologies (VPN’s, traffic engineering, etc.) is a plus
  • Ability to effectively utilize Wireshark to read and understand network traffic is a plus
